SPSS load programs are available for State databases purchased through the HCUP Central Distributor. The load programs are provided in SPSS format and there is one SPSS load program for each data file. SPSS load programs are provided by State, by year, by database type. A zip file containing the SPSS load programs for current and/or previous versions of databases and years is also provided. The amount of time it takes to access a file depends on your machine, browser and Internet connection.
Please note that SPSS load programs for data before 2009 truncate the HCUP variable names longer than 8 characters to exactly 8 characters because of SPSS limitations in older versions of SPSS. Once truncated, the variables names may no longer be unique and may cause error messages. Please refer to the LOC file to identify the issue and adjust accordingly.
