May 13-16, 2014 Society for Academic Emergency Medicine (SAEM) Annual Meeting

    May 13-16, HCUP will sponsor an exhibit booth. Representatives will be available to provide information and answer questions.


  • Podium Presentation: Patients' Length of Time in Emergency Departments: Variation Across Clinical Conditions
    On May 16, HCUP staff will participate in a podium presentation from 10:30 A.M. - 12:30 P.M. Representatives will examine the relationship between ED duration and clinical conditions using HCUP's State Emergency Department Database (SEDD) and State Inpatient Database (SID) for Florida.

    June 2-4, HCUP will sponsor an exhibit booth. Representatives will be available to provide information and answer questions.


  • Podium Presentations
    On May 31, HCUP staff will be participating in two presentations. The first presentation entitled Projecting the User of Inpatient and Emergency Department Services After the Affordable Care Act Medicaid Expansion will take place from 2:15 - 2:30 P.M. Representatives will be available to answer questions.

    At 2:30 - 2:45 P.M. HCUP staff will be participating in a presentation entitled Establishing Benchmarks to Understand Hospital Utilization Following Medicaid Expansion Under the Affordable Care. Representatives will be available to answer questions.


  • Poster Presentations
    On June 2, HCUP staff will be presenting two posters from 8:30 A.M. - 2:15 P.M. Representatives will be available to answer questions.

    • Predicting Price-to-Charge Ratios for Community Hospitals in the United States

  • Pre-conference Workshop: HCUP In-Depth: A Hands-on Workshop Using Data from the Healthcare Cost and Utilization Project
    On June 7, AHRQ staff will provide a 4-hour preconference workshop from 1:00 P.M. - 5:00 P.M. The session will provide information on utilizing HCUP databases and related products prior to the AcademyHealth meeting.


  • Exhibit Booth
    On June 8-9, HCUP will sponsor an exhibit booth. Representatives will be available to provide information and answer questions.


  • Podium Presentations
    On June 9, HCUP staff will participate in a podium presentation entitled Examining the Value of Inpatient Nurse Staffing: An Assessment of Quality and Patient Care Costs from 3:00 P.M. - 4:30 P.M. Representatives will provide information about the HCUP Project and introduce the HCUP databases and related products.

    At 4:45 - 6:15 P.M. HCUP staff will participate in a podium presentation entitled The Effect of Massachusetts Health Care Reform on Hospital Inpatient Use. Representatives will provide information about the HCUP Project and introduce the HCUP databases and related products.

    On June 10, HCUP staff will participate in a podium presentation entitled 90-Minute HCUP Overview from 10:45 A.M. - 12:15 P.M. Representatives will provide information about the HCUP Project and introduce the HCUP databases and related products.


  • Poster Presentations
    On June 8, HCUP staff will be present a poster presentation entitled Association between the Unemployment Rate and Inpatient Cost per Discharge in the United States, 2005-2010 from 2:30 P.M. - 4:00 P.M. Representatives will be available to answer questions.

    On June 9, HCUP staff will be presenting three posters from 9:45 A.M. - 11:15 A.M. Representatives will be available to answer questions.

    The posters are entitled:
    • Projecting the Use of Inpatient and Emergency Department Services After the Affordable Care Act Medicaid Expansion
    • Predicting Price-to-Charge Ratios for Community Hospitals in the United States
    • Patient Factors Associated with Variation in Same-Hospital Readmission

    On June 10, HCUP staff will be presenting two posters from 7:30 A.M. - 9:00 A.M. Representatives will be available to answer questions.

    The posters are entitled:
    • The Relationship between Economic Conditions and AMI Hospital Utilization by Adults in the U.S.: A State-level Analysis 1995-2009
    • Patients' Length of Time in Emergency Departments: Variation Across Clinical Conditions and Between High- and Low-Tech Hospitals
